The Project

The ability to read is essential for success in today's world. Unfortunately, access to books and educational resources is limited in many parts of the world, including Liberia. At Petronille Healthy Society (PHS), we believe every child should have the opportunity to learn and explore the world through reading. That's why we have partnered with schools in the United States to donate a significant amount of books and supplies to children in Jallah Town, Liberia.

Jallah Town is a small village located in Liberia's Montserrado County. The village is home to many children who lack access to basic educational resources, including books and school supplies. PHS recognized the need for increased access to educational resources in Jallah Town and launched a project to build a culture of reading in the village.
Through our partnership with schools in the United States, PHS has donated thousands of books to children in Jallah Town. These books cover various topics, from science and math to history and literature. We have also donated many school supplies, including pencils, pens, paper, and backpacks. These resources have helped to create a more engaging and productive learning environment for the children of Jallah Town.

In addition to donating books and school supplies, PHS has worked with local teachers and community leaders to encourage reading and improve literacy rates in Jallah Town. We have provided training and professional development opportunities for local teachers to improve their teaching practices and help their students develop strong reading skills. We have also worked with community leaders to organize reading clubs and events to encourage a love of reading among children.
PHS has seen significant progress in Jallah Town since the launch of this project. Children who once had limited access to educational resources are now able to read and learn in a more engaging and productive environment.

Teachers have reported improved literacy rates among their students, and community leaders have noted a renewed interest in learning and education among children. Overall, PHS's project in Jallah Town is a testament to the power of education and the impact that a culture of reading can have on a community.
Through our partnership with schools in the United States and our collaboration with local teachers and community leaders, we have made a significant difference in the lives of children in Jallah Town. We remain committed to building a culture of reading and improving access to education for children in Liberia and around the world..

How did we measure the success of the project?
PHS used several metrics to assess its impact. Firstly, the number of books and school supplies donated to schools and students was recorded and tracked to ensure that the resources were being distributed effectively. Secondly, pre and post-project assessments were conducted to evaluate changes in students' reading levels and overall literacy skills. This helped to identify areas of progress and where further support was needed.

In addition, PHS monitored school attendance rates to determine if the project successfully engaged students and fostered a love of reading. This was measured through regular check-ins with local teachers and community members and monitoring school attendance records.
Finally, feedback from both students and teachers was also gathered to understand the project's impact on their learning experience and identify areas for improvement in future projects. Overall, the combination of these metrics helped to measure the project's success in building a culture of reading in Jallah Town, Liberia.
